Fat Transfer

Fat Transfer in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale and Phoenix, AZ

Fat Transfer is a revolutionary cosmetic procedure that restores your youthful appearance and enhances natural body curves using your own fat. Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting or liposculpture, is a surgical procedure that involves taking unwanted fat from one area and moving it to another area that needs it. Many areas of your body can be enhanced via fat transfer including your face, breasts, and buttocks. Fat injected into areas requiring additional volume produces safe, long-lasting, and natural-appearing results as the volume is replaced in tissues where fat is diminished. Fat transfer involves removing fat from one part of the body, purifying it, and then carefully injecting it with specially designed needles into the areas requiring augmentation.

Why get Aesthetic Enhancement with Fat Transfer?

Fat injection or grafting is a technique that is growing in popularity. Fat is one of most well-tolerated fillers available to aesthetic surgeons, giving it the potential for several different applications. It is natural, provides long-term results, and is safe. It is extremely effective as a filler used for enhancing body contour, revising scars, filling depressions created by liposuction, and rejuvenating the hands and face. Most importantly, because it is a natural substance from your own body, fat transfer doesn’t have the inherent risks associated with synthetic fillers.

You can restore lost volume in the face with fat taken from the abdomen, thighs or other areas. This procedure is effective in treating sunken cheeks, facial lines, acne scars and other areas of lost volume that have developed as a result of aging, sun damage, and other conditions. Fat transfer can also be used as natural breast augmentation for women who wish to enhance their breast size without the placement of silicone or saline breast implants. The third most commonly targeted area for fat transfer is the buttocks. This procedure is now commonly known as the Brazilian Butt Lift, giving you the big beautiful buttocks that you desire.

How is Fat Transfer Done?

Fat from unwanted areas on your body is harvested with a special suction cannula using a sterile technique. Once enough fat is removed from the area, it is then purified. This requires the use of a centrifuge machine which spins the fat and removes impurities. The fat is then placed into the areas requiring augmentation. The injection needle is usually passed in and out of the areas to be augmented multiple times. The areas that were injected may then be sculpted and massaged by the surgeon to create the desired body contour.

Risks and Recovery following Fat Transfer:

Unlike dermal fillers and other volume enhancing treatments, during a fat transfer the grafts are taken from your own body, and as a result cannot cause an allergic reaction. The fat is naturally accepted by the body. These fat grafts also last longer than synthetic materials used in dermal fillers or implants. There is still a small risk of infection and other infrequent complications. Swelling is the most common post-operative side effect. Most of the swelling subsides within a couple of weeks. Bruising and discomfort in the weeks immediately following the procedure are also commonly reported side effects. Overall, the recovery is considered mild and requires very little downtime. Most patients are able to return to normal daily activities with days of the procedure.
