What to expect with a Thigh Lift:
Dr. DeVito can perform different variations of a thigh lift depending on your goals and needs. The type of surgery you choose to undergo often depends on the quality of your skin, the areas requiring treatment and the amount of fat and/or skin that needs to be removed. Your procedure will be individualized and may include multiple techniques to achieve your desired results.
Generally, an incision will be made along the targeted aspect of the thigh to allow for removal of excess fat and skin in the area, resulting in a smoother, well-toned lower body contour. If there is an excessive amount of fatty tissue then liposuction may also be performed before, during, or after the procedure. Surgery takes about two hours and is usually performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis. The smoother, tighter contour is immediately noticeable following the procedure, although some swelling and bruising may obscure the results initially. Following the surgery, skin quality is dramatically improved both in appearance and feel.
Risks and Recovery Following a Thigh Lift:
Recovery time depends on the extent of the procedure, although most patients experience minimal pain that can be alleviated with medication. Patients are advised that they should rest as much as possible and avoid leg movement. Patients should plan to take seven to ten days off work to recover following the thigh lift procedure. You will be wear a compression garment for several weeks following your procedure to minimize swelling and provide support. Bruising and swelling usually resolve within a month. Most patients are able to return to normal activities within a few months.
